UPDATE: 5 1/2 Weeks Old Katy and Zooey :)

UDPATE: 2 1/2 week old cuteness!

Just a few of the pictures I took with my mobile phone camera. It’s grainy but still cute :)  I will seriously get a more reliable camera next time.. :)

Meet Zooey and Katy here.

UPDATE: 2-Week Old Kittens

Kittens Napping

Kittens napping

I know. I should probably invest in a high quality camera to capture these photos well. I can’t believe I am missing all cool moments between these two kittens because I have no camera in hand, just my ever reliable mobile phone camera :)

Anyway, the kittens are 2 weeks old now. Their eyes are slightly opening, sometimes just one, sometimes both are opened. They can now “thumb suck”, “clean” or bite their little paws and one can scratch on her own.

They can walk now, or were they just crawling? I’m not sure :) They’ll be up for deworming and vaccine shots after a month.

It looks like both of them are females but I will wait for a few more weeks to be sure.

Bittersweet Welcome to Garett’s Kittens

What a day it was. Garett unexpectedly gave birth 3 days ago. She was supposedly due in 2 weeks but anyway, I am still more than willing to assist her. The entire experience was actually bittersweet because Garett gave birth to 3 kittens but we lost the first of the litter because he has a cleft palate.

Doll

Doll, 1 day old

Doll

We called him Doll because when he first came out, he looked like a persian kitten or a ragdoll :) At first we thought everything was just normal until I noticed he does not suckle. The 2nd and the 3rd kittens came out but Doll still wont or cant suckle and drink Garett’s milk. So I immediately made a kitten milk formula to manually feed him. That was the time I noticed he has cleft palate. I immediately know he might not make it a week or a month depending on the abnormality but still I just did the best I could to make him comfortable. Somehow, I was hoping he will make it.

I divided my time between the 2 kittens and Doll but I took close attention to Doll because of his special needs. His two hind legs are weak and he cannot even make himself crawl towards Garett or snuggle with the other kittens for warmth. I had a thick hand towel around him to keep him warm. He personally likes to rest on my open palm maybe because its warm. I also feed him every 2 hours.

But sadly, Doll didn’t make it. He passed away after fighting for 2 days. I was cradling him on my hands when he died :( As his heart stopped beating and his lips turned blue, I knew it was over. I wrapped him in the same hand towel that gave him warmth, placed him in a box and buried him in the garden.

Anyway, I have to move forward and take care of the other two kittens to ensure they are properly fed. Garett seems to be having postpartum and does not like to nurse them unless her other kittens (4 months) also nurse. Weird, I know.

Orange #1 and 2

I dont have their names yet but arent they cute? :)  I took this photo just after they were fed. I guess I will be sort of like a mom to them too. They love to cuddle like that a lot. I’m pretty sure when they grow up, they will be super close LOL.. Anyway, I have a huge day ahead of me.

Garett is scheduled to be spayed within the week. I won’t let her have kittens anymore since the last pregnancy was a little risky and her motherly instinct is waning. She gets distracted a lot I dont know why.

Until next time for more kitty updates :)

Thank you for dropping by!

Garett is expecting!

My 1 year old rescued cat Garett is now expecting! :)

Garett is a big, “medium-hair” orange tabby. She has soft fur and loves to be stroked a lot.

I apologize for the grainy photo but I am still saving up for a better camera :) I’m so excited! I think there will be about 2-3 kittens on the way :)

I might give up some of the upcoming kittens for adoption though since we have 5 kittens already in the house. She is scheduled to be spayed soon after.

Check out more of Garett’s photos here.
